SCEA's History
It all began in 1933 with the concept of an employee association for Safeway employees. The Safeway Employee’s Association, SEA, became a reality and became an organization in which Safeway and its employees took pride.
SEA was evolved into the Safeway Companies Employee Association, SCEA. SCEA was represented by seven of the Safeway Divisions: Denver, NorCal/Corporate, Eastern, Phoenix, Northwest (North and South), Texas, and Vons.
Today, SCEA has evolved into the Southern California Employee Association. SCEA is now represented by the Southern California Division: Albertsons, Vons, and Pavilions.
SCEA is a multi-faceted organization offering Albertsons, Vons, and Pavilions employees a multitude of reasons to join. Whether it’s for the fun-time events, discount programs, our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, theme park discount tickets or the Friends Helping Friends financial assistance program, it’s well worth the price of membership.

Our Purpose
The specific purpose of the Safeway Companies Employee Association is to
form an association of employees of Safeway Inc. and its subsidiary
companies that will be organized and operated exclusively for the
charitable, educational and recreational purposes that such employees
are interested in pursuing or furthering and to promote the social
welfare of the employees of the Safeway Companies.
